Alanna and I love the pictures that were posted on your Facebook. It has definitely been a fun experience, and Josh has been great to work with. Thanks for building our home! We will be recommending our friends to Josh for their homes!

I have referred True Built to about 25-30 people over the last 2 years as I have been impressed with the True Built operation/process/quality. I see a LOT of building sites, and what goes there. I have no idea if any of them contacted you, I hope they did.

As the first customer for True Built’s Seaview model, I was expecting some unpleasant surprises since there was bound to be a learning curve. To True Built’s credit, the building process was remarkably smooth and the end result is an amazingly beautiful home. My experience working with the team in the Tacoma office is that they are very competent and truly care about doing a quality job. I particularly want to thank Andy who dealt with up-front sales, Paul James for customizing the stock floorplan, Mia who offered excellent advice on design options, Jason for keeping small issues from growing into big problems, Mike and JC who managed day-to-day construction, and last but not least, the variety of subcontractors that had to cope with winter weather at 2000′ elevation.

True Built built a nice home for us. Like most home building, there are always challenges and obstacles but we worked together as owner and builder to create a nice, beautiful home. It is important for the owner to be involved in all aspects of the project and the True Built people work hard to ensure the customer is satisfied with the product from sale, production and completion. Thanks and good job on providing a wonderful new home.

We were the first customers in Oregon and it could not have gone more smoothly. The home was built on time and on budget. Jason Bruster, the general contractor was exceptional. He kept us informed every step of the way and had great attention to detail. I would not hesitate to recommend Jason and the team at True Built.

No one expects that building a house will be an easy process and an on-your-lot build is certainly not for the easily stressed, already stressed, or the indecisive, but it can be very rewarding. We are very pleased to move into our home which is truly our home. The niche service offered by True Built was the right fit for us and we are happy to say that True Built Home delivered what they promised— a customized home with many high end finishes at the agreed contract price.

True Built Home has a great online communication system (Co-construct) and they do have a plan of action that works to build the house from the ground up. Co-Construct made communication a breeze with all things True Built- the designers, the change orders, looking at pictures, communicating with any member on the team. The downside of communication is the subcontractors— no matter how hard anyone tries, the subcontractors are often a wildcard for what work gets done or how it gets done. True Built did the best it could, our Project Manager often went above and beyond to try to communicate and double check. But there is nothing that can replace boots on the ground- you really have to be at your build site every day- not to spend the entire day there, but just to check in on things in the middle or end of each and every day. The do-it-yourself requirements are A LOT more time consuming when you physically do them than when you read the contact. It is do-able if you are able to be onsite nearly every day and have some know-how and a lot of tools. Also a truck is advised. We had a couple things go sideways and some smaller issues that needed to get taken care of, but the important thing is that everything did get taken care of. We never lost communication with our PM or the company.

Communication is really key. Using the web portal and really being proactive in a professional, calm manner was a great way to get inevitable hiccups resolved. The one big negative about our experience was the timeline. We signed a contract in Dec 2017 and were ready for move-in by the middle/end of Sept 2020. We were hoping for a shorter process, but to be fair there were many factors outside True Built’s control such as permit turn around times and then the COVID-19 shut downs. But we did lose a couple months when a staff member left True Built and our case seemed to get lost in the shuffle for a couple months. The framing phase also seemed to take longer than it should have and there were delays to get the roof on etc, but because it was during the winter in the Pacific Northwest the wood got so wet that we needed to wait several months for the wood to dry out and have treatment for the mold that was growing. But again, in the end, all was resolved.

A significant price increase occurred between the signing of the initial contract/the design phase and when the price actually locks in at the pre-construction meeting. It was really hard to swallow but we are glad we kept going because we love our house. These price increases are explained in the contract and are a risk in construction that you have to be willing or able to take. The one key piece of our build that we cannot rave enough about was our Project Manager, Cristian Petrescu. He made everything possible. He was the glue that kept everything together. He is an excellent communicator, he also has a calm demeanor and is extremely knowledgeable. He put us at ease at every turn and personally fixed many issues so that the project stayed on track. We knew he was always very busy, but he was never rushed and always was a listening ear to any concerns.

True Built Home is a solid choice if you are looking for a customizable on-your-lot builder, and we were beyond lucky to pair up with a true gem- Cristian- to put the concept into reality. Thank you, Cristian, we could not have made it without you! And thank you, True Built Home for building a beautiful and glove-fit home for our family that we will cherish and thrive in for many years to come.
